This is the third sculpture in progress......the rose was a variety that grew on my back arbor, until blackspot ruined it.........so I decided to give it a new life, as a piece of art in drywall.

This is the drawing stage.....you can't see it very well, but the photo I took of the Heron shows him with a background of shoreline rocks he was using for camoflage.........I chose to draw him standing on the shore, surrounded by cattails, with the water and sky in the background.

Here is the completed sculpture. The drywall is sealed before painting to strengthen it and is then mounted so it is very strong and stable.

"Calla Lily in White"

This is my latest artistic endeavor..........sculpting leftover drywall. Then painting it with oils.

It is quite the challenge, as it is very fragile and once you have lost a piece, you have to make do. That's part of the challenge that I like.......it makes me really think about that next cut. For the most part, though, it is very relaxing and tends to direct you where it wants to go.

This was my first one...........I have since completed 3 others. I will post some photos of them later.

All three are on display at the Diane Kidd Gallery at Tiffin University, in Tiffin, Ohio through April 11.
